British Values

The Park Schools Federation are wholly committed to serving our community and surrounding areas. We recognise the multicultural, multi-faith nature of the United Kingdom and understand the crucial role our school plays. We encourage admissions from all, as we are a school Federation for all. We believe that our commitment and celebration of diversity makes us collectively stronger, tolerant and respectful as citizens of the World.

Democracy

  • The Pupil Management team meet with the headteacher on a weekly basis to discuss school matters and plan improvement.
  • Our Pupil Management Team feed back to Governors and act as our 'Pupil Voice.'
  • The Pupil Management team itself is led by our headteacher and adheres to democratic processes, reporting its actions to the headteacher.
  • As part of our LKS2 curriculum, we develop a ‘Pupil Parliament’ and have created ‘political stance’ presentations and movies – sharing these with our local MP.

Individual Liberty

  • As part of our curriculum, children are constantly asked to make choices, knowing that they are in a safe and supporting environment.
  • Our school provides safe boundaries and asks children to make informed choices so that they will be empowered and understand the importance of community.
  • Children are encouraged to understand and exercise their rights and personal freedoms – as in Online Safety and Jigsaw PSHE lessons – in order to understand how such freedoms may affect them.

Mutual Respect

  • Respect is embedded in our school and promoted through our PRIDE ethos.
  • Our Jigsaw PSHE curriculum embodies core values of mutual respect. Our PSHE lessons include a class charter which we share and display, encouraging and promoting mutual respect amongst pupils.
  • Our teachers and external Sports Coaches actively promote an attitude of equality and fairness, through fair team sports and rules.

Rule of the Law

  • Our Federation has strong links with the local police who regularly come in to work with classes of children.
  • Our Year 5 children work with the local leisure centre Lifeguards during swimming, this also forms a regular part of our strategy to help reinforce the rule of law.
  • We have a clearly structured behaviour policy which all stakeholders understand and follow.
  • Good to be Green is closely adhered to in each class and is supported closely by the Senior Leadership Team.

Acceptance

  • Our PSHE and R.E curriculum provides a broad and balanced education exploring a range of faiths, religions and cultures.
  • Our Language Curriculum recognises and celebrates the similarities and differences of other countries and cultures, as well as teaching children the basics of a variety of world languages - we become World citizens.
  • We teach key celebrations through assemblies and special days from a range of cultures.
  • We develop critical personal thinking skills and challenge prejudice or discriminative behaviour.
