Governors

Our Governing Board is committed to ensuring that our school sets high expectations for all staff and pupils to ensure that high quality of teaching and learning consistently raises aspirations and attainment of all pupils. This is underpinned by our strong emphasis on British values where pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development equips our children with the skills necessary for their secondary education and future life.

We as a Governing Board systematically monitor the school’s progress towards meeting agreed development targets, consistently asking for explanations and clarification to contribute to robust planning for the improvement of our school. We have adopted a policy of conducting learning walks throughout the Federation with a focused theme linked to our schools priorities identified in the school improvement plan.

We continually strive to build productive relationships with parents, children, and the wider community to ensure that their views and opinions inform discussions and help shape the direction of the school.

Our three core strategic functions:

a. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;

b. Holding the Head teacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff; and

c. Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

Our Governing Board came into effect on 5th October 2017 replacing the instrument of Government made on 20th February 2013.

Our Governors are:

PERSONAL STATEMENT

Hi, my name is Steph Storey. I have worked at The Park Schools Federation for 19 years in various roles. I started my role as a volunteer, this included helping children with reading. Following on from this I gained the role of midday supervisor this gave me confidence of working in a school environment. After this role I then started to becoming more involved within the school and leading onto working in the office.

Kirsty Evans

Category: Parent Governor
Appointed by: LA
Term of office: 14/06/2022 - 15/06/2026

PERSONAL STATEMENT

My name is Kirsty Evans, I became a Teaching Assistant in 2003 after I'd completed my first ever college placement at the Park Road school in 2000 on a Health and Social Care course. It was working at the school that made me change onto a BTEC National Diploma in Early Years course the next academic year. I went onto working as a TA at Brookfield Primary school where I taught music throughout the school as well as working with Derbyshire music partnership and in other schools also. I left being a TA in 2010 to become a support worker which I left there in 2012 due to personal circumstances. The next 3 years I trained to be a counsellor. I covered maternity leave as an admin assistant at Brookfield primary school and was a relief TA at Stubbin Wood in 2016. I was made full time and permanent at Stubbin Wood not long after. Imogen moved to Park Schools Federation in February 2019, as a year 3 student. Since then, I have seen her confidence grow and experience so many different roles and opportunities, of which I'm eternally grateful for. I have applied for Oscar to attend here when he is of age and so in the meantime, I look forward to being a Parent Governor and doing what I can to help and support this wonderful school. Thank you so much for this opportunity.

Category: Parent Governor
Appointed by: LA
Term of office: 09/06/2022 - 10/06/2026

PERSONAL STATEMENT

I live locally in Shirebrook and have been a parent of Park Schools Federation for the past 7 years and have a child in Year 6 due to leave soon and a child in Year 3. My children have thrived at Park Schools Federation, and I would like to see the school succeed for more years to come.

I have 16 years of experience working with children and young families. 5 years I spent working with Social Care supporting vulnerable and looked after children and I have always been committed to safeguarding children. The past 7 years I have worked in a local primary school as a teaching assistant and most recent years a higher-level TA. During my time there I have also ran the local creche at Shirebrook Leisure Centre, whom many of those babies and toddlers now attend Park Schools Federation.

I have recently had a career change which is more suited to my family life and children’s extracurricular activities. Therefore, applying to be a parent governor is the perfect opportunity to continue my ambitions to safeguard all children and be a part of children’s education. And what better school to keep my toes dipped into than Park Schools Federation.

I am committed to support Mr HR and his team with educational performance, overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent for all pupils at Park Schools Federation. I already love the school's ethos and visions and believe with my experience and passion I would be a great asset to the Governing Board.
